Two Alumni receive regional awards

At the Climax of the 2017 Celebration of the International Nurses Day, held at the Korle-Bu Nurses Hostel Accra, two alumni of the College emerged BEST NURSES in their respective Regions. They are;

  •  Mr. Francis Sieh-Holy Family Hospital, Techiman - Brong Ahafo, Region
  •  Mr. Francis Asaana - St. Joseph Hospital, Koforidua - Eastern Region

Mr. Sieh attended the Holy Family Nursing and Midwifery Training College, Berekum from 2008 to 2011 and he successfully completed as a registered nurse. His passion to build his knowledge in nursing and impact positively on client care led him to further his nursing education at the Valley View University, Techiman from 2015 to 2017 where he obtained a First Class Honours in BSc. Nursing. Though Mr. Sieh is young in the profession, he has shown great love for saving lives which prompted the Management of the Holy Family Hospital, Techiman to assign him to the Accident and Emergency Unit.

His innovative skills led him to invent calibrated containers from empty Voltic water containers for measuring fluids and liquids which are still in use at the facility. It was not surprising that he was awarded the Best Junior Worker of the unit in the year 2016. His dedication to the teaching and supervision of students at the hospital and the role he plays during community health education programmes stands out for all to see.

Mr. Asaana attended the Holy Family Nursing and Midwifery Training College, Berekum from 2008 to 2011. Although he was initially trained as a teacher and worked at the Ghana Education Service, his love for the sick drove him to change profession to nursing and he has not looked back since then. After his mandatory one year national service, at Koforidua Regional Hospital, he accepted posting to the St. Joseph’s Hospital, Koforidua where he is currently working as a Senior Staff Nurse. His hardworking nature and excellent devotion to duty earned him the best nurse award for the surgical department of the hospital as well as the overall best nurse in the hospital in the year 2016. His honesty, genuineness and trustworthiness made the management of the hospital appoint him as the protocol officer for the entire hospital.

WE CONGRATULATE THEM FOR THIS ACHIEVEMENT.
