Currently, the office is under the stewardship of Mr. Faisal Mahama, the Acting Dean of Students.He commenced and completed his nursing education at the Nursing and Midwifery Training College, Korle-Bu in 2005 where he obtained a Diploma in Registered General Nursing. Later in 2008, he undertook a short course in nursing at the University of Ghana, Legon which earned him a Diploma in Nursing. He was awarded a Bachelor of Science in Nursing at the University of Cape Coast, cape coast in 2011after successfully completing a two year programme in Nursing. Mr. Mahama also holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Education which he attained at the University of Cape Coast, cape coast in 2014. Professionally, he passed the licensure exams organized by the Nurses and Midwives Council of Ghana in 2006. This made him a registered general nurse.
The Acting Dean of Students has made several publications. Key amongst them include; “A care study (nursing process approach) on a patient with enteric fever (2005)”, “A study on the level of knowledge of Hepatitis B among the people of Korle-Gonno (2005)” and “Effects of amputation of the lower limb on the quality of diabetic patients at the Korle-Bu teaching Hospital (2011)”.
In addition to these publications, he has served on several boards and committees. He was the departmental representative of Junior Nurses Association, Korle-Bu in 2008. He was also the former tutor in charge of Classroom and chairperson of the Library Committee. As an entertainment icon, he has served on two occasions as the chairperson for the publicity committee, an adhocarcy of matriculation committee in the college.
It is without doubt that Mr. Mahama is indeed diligent in all endeavors thus resilient in tackling issues of bother to students.
